WHAT REALLY HAPPENED AT SODOM?

May 22, 2011

Nazi Propaganda Minister Goebbels said if a lie is repeated often enough, it will be accepted as the truth. Christianity has said for so long Sodom was destroyed because of gay sex, that interpretation is not questioned? I question it?

And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;

Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?

For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do JUSTICE and JUDGMENT; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he has spoken of him.

And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;

I will go down now, and SEE WHETHER they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and IF NOT, I WILL KNOW

No man has seen God at any time, but I can accept these men were angels.

Now here is God saying, something is happening in Sodom. It´s not good. I don´t know exactly what it is, but I´ll check it out and then I´ll know for sure.

For I know him, no/know sex here

IF NOT, I WILL KNOW no/know sex here

For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment;

God knows Abraham is a just man, wise in his judgment.

God still doesn´t know for sure what the problem is in Sodom, but Abraham, in his concern pressed the Lord.

That be far from you to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from you: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

Abraham is holding God´s feet to the fire in the manner of speaking, saying to God, is ¨collateral¨ damage acceptable to the Great God? Collateral damage is totally acceptable to the world powers these days.

Abraham is very bold with the Lord, pressing for a commitment.

And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom 50 righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.
And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes:
What if there shall lack 5 of the 50 righteous: will you destroy all the city for lack of 5? And he said, If I find there 45, I will not destroy it.
And he spoke to Him yet again, and said, What if there shall be 40 found there? And he said, I will not do it for 40’s sake.
And he said to Him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: What if there shall be 30 found there? And he said, I will not do it, if I find 30 there.
And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: What if there shall be 20 found there? And He said, I will not destroy it for 20’s sake.
And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: What if 10 shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for 10’s sake.

That’s good reasoning with God anyway you look at it, the stereotype for Jewish bargaining talents.

Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
If you be willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land:
But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.

Isaiah 1

Abraham got the word of the Lord, but this implies the angels have orders to go into town, mingle with the people, and look for at least ten righteous people.

What would you be doing if the internet didn´t exist? No TV. radio, telephone, newspapers, movie theaters, public transit, electricity or indoor plumbing? No manufacturing plants or punch clocks and no clocks at all except sunrise and sunset? No air conditioning? Life would be so basic. Just surviving one day at a time would be an accomplishment. No knowledge about what is happening in the world beyond the city walls except when strangers come to town.

The streets were small and narrow, teeming with people looking for something, amusement, entertainment, anything to do to pass the evening.

And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and you shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but WE WILL ABIDE IN THE STREET ALL NIGHT.

And he PRESSED UPON THEM GREATLY; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

Lot wanted to get the information from the strangers firsthand, and he bugged them and bugged them until they abandoned their instructions to stay in the streets all night to find 10 righteous people.

The people would recognize strangers, but the angels must have had an aura about them that caused the Sodomites to pause and whisper to one another as Lot led them through the city streets to his abode. Lot wanted them all to himself.

As Lot feasted with the angels behind closed doors, word quickly spread through Sodom about these mysterious strangers. Curiosity was building. Where are they from? What news can they tell us about the larger world beyond the our city walls?

But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:

ALL THE PEOPLE, OLD AND YOUNG FROM EVERY QUARTER. We have to assume women were included in ALL the people. Did they have a giant orgy in mind? Old, young, male and female? ALL the people?

The whole city was curious about the angel/strangers.

And they called to Lot, and said to him, Where are the men which came in to you this night? bring them out to us, that we may KNOW them.

I have no idea when and where it started, but some Christian somewhere read that somewhere else in the Bible “to KNOW” means to have sex. I just don’t see that connection there in reading the story by this one line: bring them out to us, that we may KNOW them, and building a case that God destryed Sodom because of gay sex.

What is worse, is people believe it because it’s preached from some pulpits, and don’t read the story for themselves and think with some realistic imagination to make up their own mind, nor have the ability to see the Spirit of the letter in their own “personal” relationship with God, but go by what other people tell them to believe. In the final analysis, it is not between you and them, but between you and God.

And Lot went out at the door to them, and shut the door after him,

Bring them out to us that we may know them. This is the third ¨KNOW¨”in the story. Bring them out! We want to know them. We want to know what they know about the outside world?

A detail in this story is that Lot shut the door behind him so the people did not know what was happening behind the closed door, neither did the angels know what was happening outside.

And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.

Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

The first thing Lot tells the crowd is you can´t touch the men, but you can do what you want with my virgin daughters.  Is this righteous? Is Lot a loving, responsible parent? I don´t think so!

And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will NEEDS BE A JUDGE; now will we deal worse with you, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

The people were pissed off at Lot by his free offer of his daughters. I supposed some would think they must be gay or they would want Lot´s daughters, but that´s not what the story says.

ALL THE PEOPLE said, this fellow Lot is new in town and he would judge us. WE want to know what the strangers know. We don´t want your daughters. They had righteous indignation over what Lot said to them and were angry.

But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.

And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

After Lot fed them, the angels should have continued on their mission to spend the night in the streets to find 10 righteous people in the city, but they did not even come outside to see what the commotion was all about, and pulled Lot into the house.

Not only did the angels not do what they were supposed to do, they stayed with an unrighteous man who thought nothing of offering his daughters to a mob.

The rest of the story gets very bizarre.

And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that MOCKED unto his sons in law.

Lot had many defects of character it seems.

Verses 30 to 36 I cannot imagine. Lot got so drunk, he didn´t know his daughters seduced him. He was so drunk, he impregnated his virgin daughters. Being that drunk, how could he get it up and not even know it?

Sodom was destroyed out of confusion.

Genesis 18

But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you.

                                                                                                                          Matthew10:15; & 11:24; Mark 6:11; Luke 10:12

In 1985 I was extended the rare invitation to have lunch with the Pope´s Ambassador to Canada. Mindful of how Jesus talked to the established religious leaders, I was also mindful while he lives in me, I am not he. I am a sinner like the Pope, Presidents, Prime Ministers, CEOs and everyone else. Before my Biography was recently deleted from Wikipedia, this account of that lunch was in it.

LUNCH WITH THE POPE¨S AMBASSADOR

In 1985 Cormier was extended the rare honour and recognition of being invited to lunch with The Apostolic Nuncio to Canada.

Passing through the main Dining Hall with it’s seven foot fireplace and table seating at least fifty, The Nuncio, Charge D’Affairs, Secretary and Cormier entered a beautifully decorated, intimate Dining room with a table for twelve. The dinnerware had a gold band around the edge with the Papal tiara crown in gold at the top. It was a formal setting. with the whitest linen tablecloth and flowers.

As the guest, the man for all seasons and reasons served Cormier first and the Secretary last, and at that point he deliberately picked up the dessert fork at the top of the plate to eat the rigatoni meat sauce appetizer with the most wonderful aroma. The Pope’s Ambassador stopped him, and pointing to the fork on the side said, “Use that one.”

Replacing it, Cormier said, “Excuse me, Your Excellency. It’s been over ten years since I left the business world where I negotiated multi-million dollar deals in Board Rooms and fine restaurants. I’ve lost touch with that sense of refinement. To tell you the Truth, Your Excellency, since I’ve been walking with Jesus, most of the people I encounter can’t even afford to eat good food, let alone have matched dinnerware.” Jesus was brutal talking to religious leaders.

Being a Diplomat and recovering, The Nuncio asked, “What’s on the mind of youth?” Cormier said, “Sex, drugs, music, peace, love, friendship, money, security and work, not necessarily in that order of priority.”

“Oh! It’s just like Sodom and Gomorrah” was the reply. Cormier said, “Surely Your Excellency knows the Prophet Ezekiel said what the sin of Sodom was in Chapter 16:48.[6] It was pride, fullness of bread and abundance of idleness was in her and her daughters and she was haughty. Neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. It had nothing to do with sexual activity.” On that, The Apostolic Nuncio waved his hands at him saying, ¨Eat! Eat!¨

Sitting in the front seat of the limousine with the man for all seasons and reasons living in the gatehouse with his wife and driving him home after lunch, he told Cormier his wife is a Cormier.

Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah.
To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? says the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.
And when you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you: yea, when you make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil;
Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.
Your silver is become dross, your wine mixed with water:
Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loves gifts, and follows after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come unto them.
Therefore says the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:
And I will turn my hand upon you, and purely purge away your dross, and take away all your tin:

    Thanks for the post, some thoughts;

    The exact same story in the Quran and Islamic hadith follows, that the angels came to Lot in the form of beautiful, handsome young men. This enticed the people of Sodom who gathered and made demands to Lot to hand them over (for their lust). It’s important to keep in mind that ‘KNOW’ in the Bible is a translation from the original language that the Bible was written in. And while ‘KNOW’ when used in English does not indicate anything sexual…..when the word is applied in semitic languages, it implies a sexual desire.

    ‘And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) “Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning.” Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them': (Surat al-Qamar: 37-38)

    Second point you made about Lot and his daughters. According to the Islamic text, when Lot said to the people to take his daughters, he meant I would rather you take my daughters (in marriage) than commit such an abomination with another man. There was other sins that the people of Lot engaged in besides homosexuality, including highway robbery and evil councils of law.

    ‘The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut’s household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning. (Surat al-Qamar:, 33-36)
    The people of Lut rejected the messengers. Behold, their brother Lut said to them: “Will ye not fear (Allah)? I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. So fear Allah and obey me. No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds. Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!”
    They said: “If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!”
    He said: “I do detest your doings.” (Surat ash-Shuara: 160-168)
    We also (sent) Lut: He said to his people: “Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For ye practise your lusts on men in preference to women : ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds.”
    And his people gave no answer but this: they said, “Drive them out of your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!” (Surat al-Araf: 80-82)

    Upon Lot’s prayer, Allah sent two angels in the form of men. These angels visited Ibrahim before coming to Lut. Giving Ibrahim the good news that his wife would give birth to an infant, the messengers explained the reason of their being sent: the insolent people of Lut were to be destroyed.

    ‘(Ibrahim) said: “And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?” They said, “We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin; To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds.” (Surat adh-Dhariyat: 31-34)
    Excepting the adherents of Lut: them we are certainly (charged) to save (from harm),- All – Except his wife, who, We have ascertained, will be among those who will lag behind. (Surat al-Hijr: 59-60)
    When Our messengers came to Lut, he was grieved on their account and felt himself powerless (to protect) them. He said: “This is a distressful day.” (Surah Hud: 77)
    He said: “Ye appear to be uncommon folk.” They said: “Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered.” And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. (Surat al-Hijr: 62-66)
    They did not hesitate to approach these visitors perversely as they had approached others before. They encircled the house. Being afraid for his visitors, Lut addressed his people as follows;
    Lut said: “These are my guests: disgrace me not: But fear Allah, and shame me not.” (Surat al-Hijr: 68-69)
    The people of Lut retorted;
    They said: “Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?” (Surat al-Hijr: 70)
    Thinking that he and his visitors subjected to evil treatment, Lut said:
    “Would that I had power to suppress you or that I could betake myself to some powerful support.” (Surah Hud: 80)
    His “visitors” reminded him that they were the messengers of Allah and said;
    (The Messengers) said: “O Lut! We are Messengers from thy Lord! By no means shall they reach thee! now travel with thy family while yet a part of the night remains, and let not any of you look back: but thy wife (will remain behind): To her will happen what happens to the people. Morning is their time appointed: Is not the morning nigh?” (Surah Hud: 81)
    When the perversity of the city people reached its fullest extent, Allah saved Lot by means of the angels. In the morning, his people were destroyed by the disaster of which Lot had informed them in advance.
    And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) “Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning.” Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: (Surat al-Qamar: 37-38)

    The verses describe the destruction of this people as follows;

    ‘But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. And the (cities were) right on the high-road. (Surat al-Hijr: 73-76)
    When Our Decree issued, We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay, spread, layer on layer,-Marked as from thy Lord: Nor are they ever far from those who do wrong! (Surah Hud: 82-83)
    But the rest We destroyed utterly. We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! : Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. (Surat ash-Shuara: 172-175)

    Lot’s wife did not believe either and she was also destroyed.

    ‘We also (sent) Lut: He said to his people: “Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you?
    For ye practise your lusts on men in preference to women : ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds.”
    And his people gave no answer but this: they said, “Drive them out of your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!”
    But we saved him and his family, except his wife: she was of those who legged behind.
    And we rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): Then see what was the end of those who indulged in sin and crime! (Surat al-Araf: 80-84)

    Look, my personal take is that homosexuality should not be condemned nor condoned. If it were natural, the species should be able to reproduce. Period.

    Like any other sin or bad habit, it can be broken with repentance and counseling. It’s just my personal and humble opinion.

    The biggest hindrance to the spread of the gospel is Christians themselves, it seems. Many do not even know the difference between Judah and Judas, but simply go to church on Sunday, hear a sermon, and then go back to their daily lives.

    Personally, I believe that homosexual behavior (not necessarily thought or belief) is a sin that is no different from any other. It is a sin because it defies the natural created order. Of course, most homosexuals do not believe that it is a choice – it is definitely not a choice. I never made a decision one day to be straight, nor did my wife, but this was my disposition from childhood.

    It is absurd to think that homosexuals choose to think and feel the way that they do concerning the same sex. But this does not mean that they were born with a homosexual disposition. Something happened at some point in their life that affected their psychological processes (not biological or neurological) to change to homosexuality.

    Often, it can stem from childhood abuse (verbal, physical, sexual, etc.), abandonment, ostracism, alienation, domestic and familial instability, and a host of other factors. What homophobic Christians need to understand is that homosexuality is something that comes between the individual and God – much like alcoholism, pornography habits, kleptomania, rage issues, perversions of various kinds, or hard-heartedness (among other things). Homosexuals don’t “automatically go to Hell” like some Christians say.

    A homosexual, like a heterosexual, is judged by faith in Christ; and young men who struggle with pornography will be judged by their faith in Christ. Anyone whose personal deviance comes between them and the life God wants for them (as defined in the Bible – especially the New Testament, wherever it conflicts with parts of the Old Testament) will be judged according to their faith and acts upon the basis of Christ’s sacrifice.

    Don’t let Catholics deceive you, there is no sin that cannot be forgiven. Nothing we do will ever be held against us as unforgiven (that is, except for what Christ deemed the only unforgivable sin, “blasphemy of the Holy Spirit” Matthew 12:31-32). Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

    This means that each sex is endowed with half of the image of God. Thus, when man and woman come together in marriage, it is a microcosm and symbol of the image of God. In a way, man is incomplete without a wife, and woman is incomplete without a man.

    In marriage they create a symbol of the Trinity: a Father, his “helpmate” (Gen 2:18) the Holy Spirit, and a Son (or daughter). I cannot even begin to relate the joy that my wife gives me, and it seems unfathomable to me that this same joy could be had with another man. She completes me and balances me, and when we lay together there is a certain closeness that I feel which transcends any physical sexual pleasure that is had, and which can only be experienced in this way. It is psychological, and spiritual. It is something to bond us more greatly, and it is something that we only do with each other; this is part of the bond.

    Imagine having some surreal act or thing between you and another which perfectly expresses the harmony between your physical, emotional, and psychological differences. How much closer would you feel to that person if it was only them that you did this with?

    Homosexuals, in my opinion, are missing out; in this way, they are only hurting themselves. But to be fair, I have never experienced a relationship like this with another man, so I am ignorant in the area. I cannot say what it is like, but if I saw something as beautiful and overwhelming as the vastness of, say, the Grand Canyon, I would not be thinking in my mind of how and where I could find something more pleasing – if, in fact, it did exist.

    And this is one aspect that we express in deciding to marry, or enter into a relationship: we are more than pleased – overjoyed – to have this person and get to be with them that we forget all about the seeming benefits of “upgrading” and finding someone just a little better.

    If my wife was a blanket hog or without any fashion sense or financially irresponsible, I wouldn’t go out to find a woman that was exactly like her but without those bad habits. This is love. Unconditional, and devoted.

    You may feel the same way about your same-sex partner, and if you do have that bond, use it to inspire greater faith and love in Christ. But if you do not have a same-sex partner that you are altruistically devoted to, then seek to change your sexual disposition to that of heterosexuality, because if you are a Christian, then like it or not, this is how you should live (in fact, there are many things that Paul says about the rights of women to teach and preach that I disagree with, but because I am a Christian, and I believe that Paul was selected by God and inspired to serve Him, then I must oblige.

    This doesn’t mean that I have to change my belief to match Paul’s, but I still must obey his commands where they do not conflict with those of Christ). In either case, gay or straight, you will be judged by your faith in Christ, and homosexuality breaks one of his commands; but, so does angrily holding a grudge, and committing adultery, and theft. Homosexuality, then, is on this same level. It is a sin that is committed, that the ideal Christian would work to change, like the way I have issues with hard-heartedness sometimes, but as Paul says, “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39) In this, and in everything – sin or righteousness – we must strive to increase our faith and love for Jesus.

  26. I very much believe that the issue of homosexuality is a distraction of much more important issues. The issue of homosexuality is intentionally brought to issue by the elites in order to divide working class people who would otherwise be more united to empower third political parties and candidates who could stand up to the plutocratic totalitarian regime composed of both Republican and Democratic politicians right now.

    Nonetheless, I wrote my comments in order to not let people be led astray in regards to what the teachings actually state. It is a very difficult to discern the subject of homosexuality for many as it does not directly seem to break the highest commandment to love one another. The issue is that it is born of lust and lust regardless of its form fills us with evil spirits and prohibits us from being filled with the holy spirit that guides our thoughts and intentions towards doing good works.

    There are some obvious falsehoods stated here I believe it necessary to point out. Firstly, regarding the collateral damage God’s principals are clear. God would have saved the entire city were it for just ten righteous people. However, the only righteous were Lot and his two daughters. There was no collateral damage, as when God decided to destroy the city he removes the righteous from the city first.

    Your statement that “Lot wanted to get the information from the strangers firsthand” is your fictional interpretation of what occurred based upon what a self seeking man might do and not based upon what a righteous man might do. A righteous man would take them in and insist upon it knowing the evil that might fall if he did not. The interpretation of “to know” is actually quite clear in the context contrary to your falsehood writing as further in the text it is written,”Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man”. Thus it is conclusively talking about sex. That Lot offered his daughters in order to protect the strangers plainly speaks to his righteousness in esteming caring for strangers even to the sacrifice of his own daughters. That Sodom’s people had to be blinded to prevent them from finding the door and doing evil contradicts any notion that their intentions were honorable. This also illustrates how the angels knew who was righteous and not as the “all the people from every quarter” came to do evil at Lot’s door.

    In regards to Lot getting drunk and impregnating his daughters, it does not state that God was pleased about this. Lot was not perfect, moreover was vexed from being among the people of Sodom,”And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) (2-peter 2:2-12). However he was righteous and showed this by taking in the strangers.

    These words that you have written are a blatant blasphemy.

    • Obviously, we have different abilities and capacities in understanding words and the pictures behind them. To accuse me of blasphemy in questioning the conventional Christian interpretation of the Sodom story is way over the top! You choose to overlook the obvious.

      But then again, the Jewish religious leadership accused Jesus of being the chief devil too!
